Rick Treworgy (Owner of Muscle Car City Museum, Ponta Gorda, Florida) has owned his 1939 Chevy Coupe for over 12 years now. The interior design was dynamic and trendsetting then and still looks fresh all these years later. The design included such features as hidden under dash door handles, accent lighting behind the arm rests and the rear trim bar behind the seats, and an automatically retractable air ride gage unit that disappeared under the dash when the ignition was shut off. The metallic look of the materials offer a unique compliment to the exterior deep sapphire blue paint.
Custom made sill plates sport the Chevy “Bowtie” in the custom hand fabricated satin finished piece.
Accent lighting is visible behind the arm rest and is activated by the dome light switch. The door panel blue “stripe” was carefully laid out and designed to flow into the blue band incorporated into the seat design. The seats were custom foamed and newly “paneled” to give them an upscale luxury look.
Dashboard layout was kept smooth and clean. The headlight, wiper, and A/C controls are all hidden away behind a “touch to open” door in the dash.
Custom fabricated aluminum moldings, arm rest, and door panel design are all one off pieces. The Power Window modules were hand made from steel with an aluminum facia to house the billet power window switches. The combination of the perforated and non perforated materials give the interior a sporty but classic look.
After twelve years, the fabricated and integrated E-Brake release handle and hood release show some wear but still function as they should. All wires and under dash workings have been concealed by custom fabricated metal work covered to match the interior. The under dash mounted door release handles are also visible. This arrangement keeps the door panels smooth and clean with no door handles visible.
Two tone accented steering wheel helps to tie the interior together as well as compliment the exterior color of the body.
All under dash controls, wiring, and duct work are concealed with custom fabricated sheet metal panels (passenger side shown) that have been covered in matching interior vinyl.
